Stu Lou Who is a sweet, soulful Bernese Mountain Dog/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the bravest little heart.
He’s currently hanging out in our recovery room, where he’ll be staying for a bit while he prepares for surgery at the end of January to remove his front leg due to a congenital bone defect in his “wrist” area.
Even with this early challenge, Stu Lou Who doesn’t let anything slow him down. Born with bones in his lower leg that didn’t fully form, amputation is the best path forward to keep him comfortable and prevent future problems. The good news? Puppies like Stu adapt amazingly well to life on three legs—and Stu Lou Who has already shown us how resilient and determined he is.
He’s a gentle, loving little guy who enjoys being held, soaking up attention, and taking in the world around him. With his calm nature and affectionate personality, he’s sure to grow into an incredible companion. Once healed, Stu Lou Who will be ready to take on life with confidence, tail wags, and plenty of puppy kisses.
This special boy may be starting life a little differently, but his future is bright—and he’s ready to charm his way straight into the hearts of everyone he meets.
