Evelyn is a Border Collie Bulldog puppy with a calm, gentle, and loving nature. She is curious and patient, attentive to her people, and incredibly sweet. She forms strong bonds and loves being close to those she trusts.
Evelyn enjoys spending time outdoors exploring her surroundings and playing. She loves toys and is happy to engage in gentle play, but she is just as content relaxing and taking long, cozy naps throughout the day. Her energy level is calm and well balanced.
She can be a little nervous around new people at first. Evelyn absolutely loves her people, but unfamiliar faces make her unsure until she has time to warm up. When meeting someone new, she may hide behind her foster or stand between their legs for comfort. If her foster brother is nearby, she may feel a bit braver, but she always moves at her own pace.
Evelyn is wonderful with other dogs, both small and large. She reads body language very well and respects when another dog does not want to play. When introduced to a 14‑year‑old Cairn Terrier, she calmly sniffed her without trying to initiate play. She has also met goats and showed curiosity while remaining calm and confident. She has not yet been introduced to cats.
She has some very cute and silly habits. Evelyn loves zooming through the house on her long, lanky legs that seem almost too big for her body. She enjoys launching herself off the back of the couch and playing tug‑of‑war with her foster brother, sometimes even pinning him down. She also loves sitting on the stairs in a way that looks like she is doing something suspicious, but she is really just relaxing. She is especially sweet when she stays close and follows you from room to room.
Evelyn is crate trained and knows the command “kennel up.” She usually waits for her foster brother to go first, then follows into her crate and patiently waits for her treat. She may whimper briefly at night but settles quickly. She has never had an accident in her crate.
She is mostly house trained. She has had one poop accident that was caught and immediately redirected outside. She also had a small piddle accident that appeared to be fear based rather than confusion. Bell training is currently in progress.
Evelyn is learning basic commands and is doing very well. She knows “kennel up,” is learning “sit,” and is practicing “wait” at feeding time. She is highly motivated by treats, making training and positive reinforcement very effective.
Leash training has begun. Evelyn does great with the leash dragging on the ground and follows closely behind. She is still gaining confidence when someone is holding the leash, but progress is steady. She is excellent off leash.
Evelyn would do well in many different homes, with or without other pets. She would thrive with someone who has time to help build her confidence, offers space for exploration, and uses gentle positive reinforcement. In return, she offers calm companionship, loyalty, cuddles, and a loving presence.
