I'm not quite ready to go to my new home.

Hi! My Name Is Mickey

I'm in the Recovery Room - I'll Be Available Soon

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you mixed a genius, a goofball, and a professional snuggler into one very handsome package… well, meet Mickey.

At about 1.5 years old, this Aussie/Border Collie mix is equal parts brains and heart, with just a dash of chaos to keep life interesting. Mickey didn’t have the easiest start, but you’d never know it now. These days, he’s thriving, glowing, and fully embracing his new life motto: snacks, snuggles, and squeaky toys.

Mickey is fantastic with other dogs and would absolutely love a canine sidekick. In fact, he insists on it. This boy believes firmly that no dog should ever have to face the world (or a nap) alone. He’s also cat-approved… though he does think they exist purely for playtime. If a cat disagrees, Mickey respectfully accepts a well-placed bop and moves on.

Kids used to be a bit suspicious in his books, but thanks to some patient grandkids, he’s now a fan club member. He’d do best with slightly older kiddos who can handle his enthusiastic greetings and playful energy.

Speaking of energy… Mickey is a fetch-loving, water-splashing, creek-diving superstar. He will happily dunk his whole face underwater in search of the perfect rock, because clearly that is a very important job. A fenced yard is a must for this adventurous boy, both for zoomies and for his occasional “let me back in please” announcements.

He’s incredibly smart and already knows his basic commands like sit, down, come, and stay. He’s house-trained, has great recall, and has come a long way with his manners. Once upon a time he thought counters were for surfing and meals were competitive speed-eating events. Now? He politely waits for permission to eat and leaves your countertops in peace like the gentleman he is.

Mickey is also what we lovingly call a Velcro dog. If you’re looking for personal space… he would prefer you reconsider. He lives for being near his people, whether it’s following you around the house or curling up beside you after a good walk.

He does have some separation anxiety if left completely alone, which is why a home with another dog is so important for him. With a buddy, he settles beautifully and can be trusted to free roam without getting into trouble.

Leash walking is still a work in progress. Mickey is strong and enthusiastic, and while tools like a halti help, he’ll need a home committed to continuing his training so walks can be enjoyable for both ends of the leash.

This boy has come incredibly far. From having nothing to now loving toys, water, affection, and the simple joy of being part of a family, Mickey is ready for his forever home.

He’s affectionate, loyal, a little quirky, and completely unforgettable. If you’re ready for a smart, loving, slightly clingy best friend who will make you laugh every single day, Mickey is waiting.
