Why should you ADOPT

You save 2 lives!

When you adopt a pet from a shelter you save that animal’s life and the life of another animal because now the shelter has an empty cage to house them in. How awesome is that?

The savings are great!

Buying a dog from a private buyer can cost hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars. This usually doesn’t include vet checkups, first shots, or spayed and neutering.  Your adoption fee to Helping Paws Rescue includes getting your dog a vet checkup which will include getting them up-to-date on their shots, spaying or neutering (if needed), and micro chipped if they aren’t already.  This leaves you with a lot of money to spoil your new family member!

Adoption helps decrease overpopulation.

Animal shelters have been dealing with overpopulation for decades. There are too many animals and not enough homes. When adopting from animal shelter, most require you to get your pet spayed or neutered, which is why it’s included in the adopting fee. This helps to cut down the animal population resulting in far less homeless animals.

You can find a better fit for your personality.

If you adopt, you get your choice of any age. Though puppies are cute and cuddly, they can also be a handful. An adult or older pet may be a better fit for you.  They are usually at some stage of being house trained and know some basic commands.  Most pet stores don’t provide any support if you have questions or problems with your new pet.  When you meet and interact with your potential new best friend, you get a basic understanding on the dog’s personality. If you’re an active person who likes to hike, you can find your doggie equal in an outdoor friendly dog that will follow you to the moon and back.  If you are looking for a new buddy to cuddle and watch Netflix with, you will know if they are a good fit before taking them home.  Foster parents are an awesome source of information and are always happy to share!
